Lyceum Philharmonic Masterworks Concert featuring Romeo and Juliet May 11 2024

Lyceum Philharmonic performs masterworks from the height of the Romantic Era including Romeo & Juliet Fantasy Overture by Tchaikovsky and Montagues and Capulets (Dance of the Knights) by Prokofieff. Also featured in this concert are the winners of the 2024 student concerto competition.

Lyceum Youth Orchestras at American Heritage School, led by Kayson Brown, is one of the most comprehensive and awarded youth programs of its kind in the nation. With a focus on faith, patriotism and excellence, these youth learn to LOVE music MORE through musical service, meaningful media and inspiring events. Featured on PBS with The Piano Guys, recorded for SONY Masterworks, and winner of the Best of State award for the past 16 years, Lyceum Youth Orchestras is inspiring youth of all ages and abilities. These accomplished musicians come from schools across Utah to participate in twelve audition-only ensembles at American Heritage School campuses in downtown Salt Lake City and American Fork. Lyceum Philharmonic has reached the top of the Billboard Charts on multiple albums including with The Piano Guys, Paul Cardall and on their own independent label. Kayson Brown is a passionate music educator whose primary goal is to inspire audiences and the young musicians he directs. As the founder of the Lyceum Music Festival and director of the Lyceum Youth Orchestras Program at American Heritage School, he oversees eleven youth orchestras and a nationally significant summer music festival. In all these endeavors, Kayson seeks to connect talented young musicians with their professional counterparts and has succeeded in creating programs that consistently attract large audiences to meaningful concerts and media that inspires, educates and entertains.

Kayson has been recognized by Best of State Utah and American String Teachers Association as one of the leading music educators in the nation. His music and student musicians have been heard more than 100 million times on YouTube and have reached the top of the Billboard Charts on three separate albums.

Kayson holds a Master’s Degree in Orchestral Conducting from Brigham Young University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Cello Performance from the University of Utah. He has two decades of experience conducting more than 25 symphony orchestras including professional, university, community and educational ensembles nationwide.
