Temples are the holiest places for Latter-day Saints. On the east wall of every temple are the words “Holiness to the Lord. The House of the Lord.” These words represent the sanctity of the building and are a reminder that the temple is dedicated to God.

The highlight of this exhibit is a scaled temple model allowing visitors to view the inside of the Salt Lake Temple before its seismic renovation began in 2019.

This exhibit includes several artifacts from the Salt Lake Temple, such as:

  • A piece of granite similar to what was used to build the temple.
  • Tools that were used to build the temple.
  • Pieces of wood and plaster from the temple.
  • Door hardware and a key from the temple.
  • An original table from the temple.
  • An original altar from the temple.

Time to view: 20 minutes
