Messages from Leaders

Prophets and Church leaders are deeply interested in the welfare of young single adults. The following key messages share items of great interest for this group and their preparation for the future.

  • Help Others Return to Their Christian Faith

“You are the generation the Lord has saved for this day. You came out of the waters of baptism with a covenant and a promise to the Lord to represent Him in helping people throw off their worldly ways and return to the blessings promised us if we would follow Him and live His gospel. You can help your Heavenly Father’s children return to their Christian faith and develop a faith in Him and return to His ways” (L. Tom Perry, “We Were the Greatest Generation,” [Church Educational System fireside for young adults, March 6, 2011]).

  • Lose Your Life in the Lord's Service

“The Savior's formula for converting our hearts to His cause is unambiguous. He instructs us to lose our lives in His service” (Clayton M. Christensen, “ 'My Ways Are Not Your Ways,' ” Ensign, Feb. 2007, 54).

  • Let the Lord Guide You

“Your life is carefully watched over, as was mine. The Lord knows both what He will need you to do and what you will need to know” (Henry B. Eyring, “Education for Real Life,” Ensign, Oct. 2002, 18-19).

  • Obtain Skills to Become Temporally Self-Reliant

“We do live in turbulent times. Often the future is unknown; therefore, it behooves us to prepare for uncertainties. Statistics reveal that at some time, for a variety of reasons, you may find yourself in the role of financial provider. I urge you to pursue your education and learn marketable skills so that, should such a situation arise, you are prepared” (Thomas S. Monson, “If Ye Are Prepared Ye Shall Not Fear,” Ensign, Nov. 2004, 116).
