2022 Off-cycle Stakes

We have some exciting news to share. The Church is now inviting those of your youth who meet the qualifications below to attend this summer! These youth were unable to attend due to the cancellations as a result of the pandemic, and this experience can be life changing. This is an exception for this year only. Beginning April 26, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. MT, bishoprics and branch presidencies will have access to the “Participant Approval Tool” (see below). Registration will also open for these youth on this date.

Qualifications for Youth in Off-cycle Stakes to Attend in 2022

Meet ONE of the qualifications listed below:

  • Graduate from high school in 2022

OR

  • Turn 18 years old at any point during 2022

OR

  • Turn 19 years old between May 16 and December 31, 2022 (cannot have graduated in 2021 or earlier)

And meet ALL of the qualifications listed below:

  • Must agree to live by the standards in the For the Strength of Youth booklet while at FSY
  • Cannot be currently on probation or parole for any crime
  • Cannot have committed a sexual offense felony, whether convicted or not
  • NOTE: If attending in Canada, no youth can be 19 at any point during their participation at FSY (or 18 at any point during their participation at FSY if attending in Ottawa, ON).

Instructions for Youth to Register

You must be approved by a member of the bishopric before you can register. If you are a member of the Church you must have your Membership Record Number (MRN) linked to you Church Account. If you are not a member of the Church you do not need to have an MRN linked to your Church Account.

To Create a Church Account:

Please go to Account.ChurchofJesusChrist.org/Register to create an account. If you are a member of the Church, please have your MRN ready to enter into your account. Your MRN can be found on your temple recommend or a member of your bishopric, including your ward clerk, can provide it to you.

To Check if Your MRN is Linked to Your Account:

Please go to Account.ChurchofJesusChrist.org/Membership to check if your MRN is listed on your account. If it is not listed, please enter it into your account. Your MRN can be found on your temple recommend or a member of your bishopric, including your ward clerk, can provide it to you.

To Register:

If you are a member of the Church, prompt a member of the bishopric to approve you if they haven't already done so. Once they have approved you and your MRN is linked to your account, you may register on FSY's Registration Portal.

If you are not a member of the Church, please provide your Church Account username to a member of the bishopric so that they can approve you. Once they have approved you, you may register on FSY's Registration Portal.

Youth will be required to pay $75 USD ($100 CAD) upon registration unless the bishopric has opted to pay that fee on behalf of the youth during the approval process, so be ready with a credit or debit card when you register. You may also be asked to reimburse the ward for the $75 USD ($100 CAD) ward fee as your attendance at FSY was not planned for in this year's ward budget.

Instructions for Bishoprics to Approve Youth

Instructions to Approve Youth:

Before a youth can register for an FSY conference, a member of the bishopric must approve them to attend via the Participant Approval Tool. This tool will be available on LCR > Applications > For the Strength of Youth Conferences. Bishopric members should approve all youth who meet the qualifications listed above regardless of whether they feel the youth will actually attend. All youth in your unit will be listed in the approval tool; please do not approve youth who do not meet the qualifications listed above as your younger youth will have the opportunity to attend next year.

If any of your youth who meet the qualifications above turn 19 between May 16 and December 31, 2022, you will need to add them using the + Add Youth button in the approval tool. You will input the youth’s Church username and click Verify to confirm that the correct name is displayed.  The system will tell you they reside outside of the ward boundaries; please disregard this message. Select “Other” and state: “Youth turns 19 on [date].”  You do not need to follow the prompt to call for adding a youth in this situation. Select an option for all the remaining questions and click Submit.

Graduating seniors who are not members of the Church are also invited to attend but must be sponsored by a ward. To add a youth who is not a member, have them create an online Church account then grant approval by selecting + Add Youth at the bottom of the Participant Approval Tool and enter the youth’s Church Account username. Follow the prompts and answer the remaining questions and submit.

Youth Registration Information:

Approved youth will receive an email inviting them to register for FSY if their email and Membership Record Number (MRN) are linked to their online Church Account. Please ensure that each youth has an active email account and that youth who are Church members have a MRN linked to their Church Account. Youth can find their MRN on their temple recommend, a member of the bishopric, or ward clerk can provide it. Youth can attach their MRN to their online account at Account.ChurchofJesusChrist.org/Membership.

Once the youth’s MRN is tied to their online Church Account and they have been granted approval, the youth can register. They can access the registration tool from the email sent to them or from the youth page at FSYYouth.ChurchofJesusChrist.org. Registration must be completed using the youth’s Church Account username, not their parent’s.

Financial Information:

  • Ward Fee - $75 USD ($100 CAD)
  • Participant Fee - $75 USD ($100 CAD)
  • Total - $150 USD ($200 CAD)

Ward Fee:

Your unit will be charged $75 USD ($100 CAD) per youth who registers and attends, or fails to attend and does not follow proper withdrawal procedure from the session. Billing information can be accessed on the FSY website. Your ward will not be charged the ward fee for youth who are not members of the Church. You may ask the youth and their families to reimburse your ward for this fee this year, as this was not planned at the beginning of the year. For youth and families to reimburse the ward fee of $75 USD ($100 CAD), please request the family to fill out a physical tithing slip and write “FSY” in the Other category with a check or cash included.

Participant Fee:

Youth will also be charged a participant fee of $75 USD ($100 CAD) upon registration. If members of your ward cannot cover the cost of the participant fee you can select ‘Ward to Pay Participant Fee’ in the approval tool, in which case your ward will also be charged the $75 USD ($100 CAD) participant fee for a total of $150 USD ($200 CAD). Youth who are not members of the Church will be charged the participant fee which you can choose to cover, as noted above.

Travel:

Travel to and from FSY conferences this summer will not be provided for your youth. Youth and their families will be responsible to arrange their own transportation for the conference they select.
