Youth from around the world share what they learned during the April 2018 general conference.
It’s one thing to listen to or read talks from general conference, but it’s another thing entirely when you feel inspired to improve something in your life. You might feel prompted to try something new (like read the Book of Mormon the same time every day) or to work a little harder at something you already do (like focus a bit more on others rather than yourself). Many of you shared the goals you set because of what you learned during the April 2018 general conference. This is a great way to grow!
Last month, we shared experiences from those of you who grew closer to the Savior, and this month you can read about youth who felt empowered to improve something in their lives.
I Can Read the Book of Mormon
This general conference was the most amazing conference ever! I learned so much and was so inspired. I know that the Book of Mormon is absolutely true, and I’ve made the goal to read it every day. I’ve felt closer to my Heavenly Father, and I hope to keep moving closer to Him every day as I ponder the Book of Mormon. I am so proud and happy that I am a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I Can Follow the Commandments
This conference brought peace to my soul and heart. Russell M. Nelson is the prophet chosen by God. I love him and the Apostles, and I do not know where I would be without them and my Savior. I know that I am in the true Church—the Lord’s Church—the same one that Jesus Christ established. I know there is joy in following the commandments out of love. And that there is always hope in Jesus Christ thanks to His infinite Atonement.

I Can Be Patient
I loved when Elder Quentin L. Cook reminded us that guidance is given in the Lord’s time. Many times, we may feel like we are praying for help and guidance, and the answer doesn’t come when we want it. But our Father in Heaven is all-knowing and will give us guidance when He knows it’s most needed. I know Heavenly Father hears and answers our prayers in His time. He loves each and every one of us, and He is constantly aware of us and our needs.

I Can Do the “Small and Simple Things”
As I listened to conference, I realized that I don’t have to do big things to be a good person. I can do “small and simple things” (Alma 37:6) like doing the dishes without being asked, sending a note to a friend, or just giving someone a compliment. I felt the Spirit confirm to me that President Nelson is a prophet and that he receives revelation from God. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and that He loves all of us.
—McKenna L., 13, California
I Can Endure with the Savior by My Side
“Enduring” has been essential the last couple months as I tried to do well in school, Church callings, gospel study, work, and piano. I wanted to thrive in my stressful situations. Elder Claudio D. Zivic’s talk really impressed upon me to get the small daily things done and obey the commandments. Then I can have the Savior with me all along the way, lifting me up. I know that when we rely on the Savior and use His Atonement we are able to feel peace no matter what our circumstances may be.
—Tenea H., 18, Canada
I Can Turn Outward
General conference was amazing! I loved getting to sustain our prophet and new First Presidency. I got to know my Savior better and learn more about myself! I prayed to have my questions answered, and they were all answered in their own unique way. I loved Sister Bonnie L. Oscarson’s talk about service and turning outward rather than focusing on ourselves.

I Can Read with Real Intent
General conference answered my questions and strengthened my faith in the Savior and Heavenly Father. I know the scriptures are true, and if we read them with real intent and a sincere heart our faith in the Savior will grow. As we strengthen our faith in Jesus Christ we can avoid or even feel peace through the temptations and troubles in life. I know this Church is true and that it is the Church of Jesus Christ!
