Face to Face with Elder and Sister Renlund in Africa

On August 5, 2017, Elder and Sister Renlund will answer questions from the youth in Africa in the next regional Face to Face event!

Did you know that there are regional Face to Face events?

Back in December, Elder D. Todd Christofferson and his wife, Kathy, joined young men and young women in Guatemala for the first Face to Face event originating outside of the United States. That event originated in Spanish and was translated into Portuguese. It was broadcasted to all of Latin America. (You can watch it at caracara.lds.org.)

    And now, it’s Africa’s turn.

On August 5, 2017, all youth in Africa are invited to participate in a live event with Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles and his wife, Sister Ruth L. Renlund. They will be answering questions live from the newly constructed MTC in Accra, Ghana.

“Ruth and I were thrilled to get the assignment to return to Africa!” said Elder Renlund. “While we lived in Africa we were frequently in awe of the immense faith we found in the members there and in the island nations of the Indian Ocean. There is no question the light of the gospel shines brightly in their countenances. We look forward to being in their presence and basking in their love for the Lord again.”

Sister Ruth Renlund said, “Elder Renlund and I are so excited to be with our members in the Africa West and Africa Southeast Areas!”

“I often say people like me better if they have met Ruth first,” Elder Renlund added. “I know these wonderful youth will be blessed by her faith and confidence in the Lord and her practical approach to daily gospel living. It will be a treat for me to have her by my side during this event.”

All youth and their friends, leaders, and parents in Africa are invited to watch the live, interactive question-and-answer broadcast on Saturday, August 5, on face2face.lds.org, LDS Youth on Facebook and YouTube, or their area communication page. There will be two originating broadcasts, one in English, Portuguese, and Malagasy at 10:00 a.m. GMT (10:00 a.m. in Ghana, 12:00 p.m. in Johannesburg), and the second in French at 1:00 p.m. GMT (1:00 p.m. in Ghana, 3:00 p.m. in Johannesburg).

Remember: Although this event is specifically for Africa, anyone can watch it on the LDS Youth Facebook page. You can also get to know youth from Ghana on the LDS Youth Instagram page (@ldsyouth) and the New Era magazine during the month of August.

Elder and Sister Renlund invite youth in Africa to:

    • Ponder what questions they might have for them.
    • Read James 1:2–8 and Alma 37:35–37.
    • Submit questions on the event page any time before or during the event.
    • Pray about a nonmember friend who might be ready to hear from one of the Lord’s Apostles.
    • Invite a friend to also participate in the event.
