5 Ways to Share For the Strength of Youth

“Pray about who needs this pamphlet. You will be guided,” promised President Nelson. “And it will be exciting.”

On June 3, 2018, President Russell M. Nelson, President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, invited every single youth in the Church to “enlist in the youth battalion of the Lord to help gather Israel.”

To help you prepare for this final gathering, the prophet then asked you to do five things that would help change you and change the world.

    1. Hold a seven-day fast from social media. Take a break from the fake!
    2. For three weeks, make a weekly sacrifice of time to the Lord.
    3. Keep on the covenant path. If you have wandered off, immediately get on the road of repentance.
    4. Daily pray that the doors of all nations will be opened for the preaching of the gospel.
    5. Be a light. Set the standard. Give away one copy of For the Strength of Youth.

Let’s take a look at that fifth invitation.

Stand out from the world and “embrace being different!” said President Nelson. Embrace the For the Strength of Youth pamphlet as your standard, prayerfully read it like you’ve never read it before, and give a copy to a friend who might not know your standards.

“Pray about who needs this pamphlet. You will be guided,” promised President Nelson. “And it will be exciting.”

To get you started as an enlisted member of the Lord’s youth battalion, here are five ways to share For the Strength of Youth.

    1. Use it to answer a question.

You might get questions all the time about why you do or don’t do certain things. The next time someone asks you why you won’t go to a game on Sunday or why you don’t date, pull out a For the Strength of Youth pamphlet to help answer their question. Give them the pamphlet and invite them to find out exactly why you live the way you do.

    2. Pray to know.

If you can’t think of anyone to give a copy of For the Strength of Youth to, don’t worry. Heavenly Father knows! Keep a copy in your purse or backpack and pray every day to know someone you should give it to. Remember: once you receive an answer, act!

    3. Give away a highlighted copy.

Study For the Strength of Youth with a friend in mind and a pen in hand. Mark passages you feel would be helpful to your friend and write notes in the margins just for them. When you’re done, you have a personalized copy to give your friend!

    4. Give it away at a special activity.

Plan a special activity with your class or quorum and commit to inviting people who aren’t members of the Church. You can talk about your standards at the activity, but remember to have fun! At the end, give each person a copy of For the Strength of Youth to take home with them.

    5. Share a message on social media.

Take a picture and share a message about For the Strength of Youth on a social media site. You can talk about how living one particular standard has blessed your life, a quote from the pamphlet, or your testimony about obeying the Lord. In your message, invite readers to talk to you for a free copy.
