Obtaining Special-Order Temple Garments and Ceremonial Clothing

Special-order temple garments and ceremonial clothing can be made for members with medical needs or sizing requirements outside of the current offerings (see General Handbook 38.5.3).

Medical Needs

Medical needs can include any clinically diagnosed condition that may require special clothing modifications, such as medical ports or sensory issues (see General Handbook 38.5.8). For questions about accommodating a specific medical condition, please contact a clothing specialist (see “Ordering,” below).

Special Sizing Needs

Members who, due to their unique stature, require garments in a size that is not offered may request a special order (see General Handbook 38.5.2).

Ordering

Special-order garments do not require a bishop’s approval. Requests for special-order garments are made by contacting a clothing specialist in the Global Services Department at +1 800-537-5971, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. Mountain Time. If a request is received outside of these hours, a message will be taken for a clothing specialist to contact the patron. Live language support is available in English, Portuguese, and Spanish; those who speak other languages can contact their nearest distribution store, where a store associate can email a clothing specialist on their behalf. Pricing is subject to change and is only available by consulting with the specialist.

To create a special order, a customer’s measurements will be required. The clothing specialist will know what measurements are needed and the best way to obtain them.

This special-order process is being communicated in phases by area. If you are aware of members in other areas who can benefit from this process, please understand they may have already received this notice or will receive it in the future.

Please note that these special-order garments are not the same as the new garment styles and fabrics, such as the open-sleeve garment and slip-style garment, which are gradually being introduced worldwide. “Special-order garments” refers solely to custom orders created via the process outlined above.
