Membership records are the only means of recording ordinances and other official actions in the permanent records of the Church.
Stake and ward clerks have the following responsibilities:
The stake clerk ensures that Melchizedek Priesthood ordinations are properly and promptly recorded.
The ward clerk ensures that all member information is up to date, complete, and correct and that ordinances are properly and promptly recorded.
The membership audit will be conducted semiannually to assist the stake and ward clerk identify and address incorrect or missing membership information.
A summary page will be displayed before submitting the membership audit. The page will show all the exception items that will be included in the audit results. The stake and ward clerk will work to resolve the exceptions within 30 days of submitting the audit.
