About This Issue
This Month’s Theme: General Conference
Hi, friends!
It’s crazy to think that another general conference has already come and gone. For me, conference has always been special.
When I was a kid, I looked forward to general conference because it meant that I got to eat all the candy I wanted—as long as I was still listening.
When I was a missionary, I looked forward to general conference because it meant that I got to watch as my friends heard from a prophet of God for the first time.
Now I look forward to conference because it means I get to hear the messages the Lord needs me to hear at this exact moment in time. It’s an opportunity for all of us to see what specific revelation God has given Church leaders to help us get through the next six months. I love the music, the talks, and the spirit that envelopes my apartment as I watch (and yes, I keep some candy on hand).
Something I’ve recently started doing after conference is comparing notes with a friend about the same message or talk and realizing that the Spirit often whispered completely different things to both of us! It’s amazing that we can all listen to the same hours of conference and each receive specific counsel that is unique to our lives, worries, and circumstances.
Which is why I’m excited for you to read this issue of YA Weekly and learn some of the insights that other young adults gained from conference.
We also have stories that are part of our ongoing series:
-
From the Mission Field: What a young adult did when she experienced doubts about the gospel right before serving her mission.
-
For Mothers of Young Children: A mother shares how she was reminded that God was aware of her after an exhausting day.
-
I Believe: How a young adult learned how to let go of pride and choose faith.
-
Dating and Relationships: Why dating is worth the effort and what you can learn from it (even if it’s not working out yet).
-
Come, Follow Me: A message to support your study of Hosea and questions to ask yourself to see if you’re doing things for the right reasons
We hope these stories remind you of the spirit you felt during general conference and Heavenly Father’s love for you. He sees you, He cares about you, and He wants you to hear His voice.
With love,
Jocelyn Burnside, YA Weekly editorial intern
