About This Issue
This Month’s Theme: General Conference
Dear friends,
I love that we all view general conference through unique lenses. Our individual life experiences help us relate to different stories we hear. Our specific questions lead us to find answers in different talks.
As I edit this section of YA Weekly every May and November, I’m always so impressed by how these general, universal principles taught during conference become personal to our authors. Someone’s life was changed by a quote I barely noticed. Someone found advice for their dating life in a talk I applied to a completely unrelated situation in my life.
It’s a testament to me that the Holy Ghost is an integral part of the general conference experience. I feel inspired to dive back into conference messages when I realize how much more there is for me to learn. I believe that as my circumstances and questions change over the next six months, the Holy Ghost will help me find a greater understanding of truths that will bless my life.
If you’re looking to be inspired by all the ways people have applied conference to their lives, check out these stories:
-
A young adult who felt called out (in a good way) when Elder Caussé asked if we’re being exclusive with our love
-
Three analogies from conference that make the gospel easier to understand
-
What one young adult realized about maintaining her relationship with Jesus Christ as a returned missionary
-
How the many mentions of Peter this conference can help us learn to handle feelings of overwhelm in our callings
We also have stories that are part of our ongoing series:
-
For Mothers of Young Children: How the knowledge of the Savior’s Resurrection gives strength to a new mom who experienced a traumatic birth
-
From the Mission Field: An interview with a current missionary about the challenges and blessings of missionary life
-
Applying the Old Testament to Your Life: Support for your study of the book of Numbers and what it can teach us about personal revelation
Whatever your main takeaway was this conference, I hope you feel closer to Jesus Christ. I hope you heard or read something that inspires you to share His love.
And if you didn’t, I hope you look again. He wants you to feel His love, and general conference is one of His best channels for communicating with you.
With love,
Alison Wood, YA Weekly writer
