3 Scriptures to Pick You Up

One way you can turn a crummy day around is to reach for the scriptures. You can always find comfort and perspective in them because they are true, wise, and a stronghold for God’s promises. Here are three verses that can help chase the gray clouds away.

“If thou art sorrowful, call on the Lord thy God with supplication, that your souls may be joyful” (Doctrine and Covenants 136:29).

Praying to Heavenly Father and asking for His help, especially when you don’t feel like it, is always a great idea. He wants you to be successful and happy, and He’s given you prayer as a powerful way to flip a bad day back on its feet.

“Be of good cheer … ; for I am in your midst, and I have not forsaken you” (Doctrine and Covenants 61:36).

The Lord is with you, even on difficult days. He’s never far away. He always wants to help, though we sometimes struggle with wanting His help.

“In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world” (John 16:33).

Jesus overcame His trials through faith in His Father in Heaven. We can also overcome our trials with His help. Trials will surely come your way, but relying on the Lord can help you rise above them and even look at them as helpful experiences.

  • Add a note next to one of the verses listed above and record how the scripture inspired you.

  • Ask the Lord to help you find someone today who could use some cheering up, then share one of these verses with them.

  • Memorize one of these verses and share it with a friend or family member.
