Idea List:

New Year—New You

Many people use a new year to set resolutions or goals for the future. Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin said, “You should look ahead now and decide what you want to do with your lives. … Write your goals and review them regularly. Keep them before you constantly, record your progress, and revise them as circumstances dictate. Your ultimate goal should be eternal life” (Ensign, Nov. 1989, 73).

Debbie Skousen’s seminary students in the Morgantown Ward, Fairmont West Virginia Stake, each made a list of five personal goals to accomplish during the year. Some of their ideas are listed here to help you set a few of your own goals.

  • Exercise regularly.

  • Pray privately twice a day.

  • Write in my journal every night.

  • Smile and say hi to 10 people a day.

  • Share my testimony with someone once a week.

  • Make at least one new friend this year.

  • Attend Mutual every week.

  • Partake of the sacrament every week.
