Introduction: To Bring the World His Truth

What greater joy can we have than to help our brothers and sisters understand the precious truths of the gospel.

What an incredible opportunity! We are blessed to know that God is truly our Father. We are blessed to know that Jesus is the Savior and has restored His gospel. We know the purpose of our lives. We have the tremendous comfort and reassurance that come from knowing of the plan of salvation. We have the glorious blessings available in our temples.

And we have the opportunity to share these blessings with our brothers and sisters all over the world.

Missionary service is such a great blessing—for those who receive and for those who give—that we’ve made it the focus of this special New Era. We know that whether you are already planning on a mission, or you have not yet made that decision, you have questions. Just look at the table of contents, and you will see that we try to answer the major questions in this issue. Beyond that, your own personal concerns will be resolved as you pray, study the scriptures, counsel with parents and priesthood leaders, and move forward with faith as Nephi did.

One missionary at the MTC, Sister Peden, recently put it this way: “I love the Lord so much and He has done so much for me. What greater joy can we have than to help our brothers and sisters understand the precious truths of the gospel and to bring them joy and peace. It is such a wonderful opportunity!”

There’s that word again—opportunity! In the pages that follow, you have the opportunity to have your questions answered, your testimony reinforced, your missionary spirit strengthened. Go for it.
