Scriptures on Gospel Voice

Gospel Voice is now available for Alexa and Google Assistant smart speaker devices. Using simple voice commands, you can listen to chapters from the scriptures, talks from general conference, and many other Church resources. Accessing the scriptures is now as easy as saying, “Alexa, open Gospel Voice,” or, “Hey, Google, talk to Gospel Voice.”

Get started on your Amazon Alexa devices by:

Option 1: Saying, “Alexa, enable Gospel Voice.”

Option 2: Searching for “Gospel Voice” in the Alexa skill store and clicking Enable.

Then anytime you want to access it again, say, “Alexa, open Gospel Voice.”

Get started on Google Assistant devices by:

Option 1: Saying, “Hey, Google, talk to Gospel Voice.”

Option 2: While on your mobile device, going to the Gospel Voice action in the Assistant store.

Then anytime you want to access it again, say, “Hey, Google, open Gospel Voice.”

Accessing Scriptures

You can access the scriptures by opening Gospel Voice and navigating through the voice menu, or you can use voice commands to get to the scripture you want. Here are some voice commands to try:

Alexa:

“Alexa, ask Gospel Voice to read the scriptures.”

“Alexa, ask Gospel Voice to read Genesis chapter one.”

“Alexa, ask Gospel Voice to read Doctrine and Covenants one hundred and thirty-seven.”

Google:

“Hey, Google, ask Gospel Voice to read the scriptures.”

“Hey, Google, ask Gospel Voice to read Genesis chapter one.”

“Hey, Google, ask Gospel Voice to read Doctrine and Covenants one hundred and thirty-seven.”

Scripture Navigation Options

While listening to the scriptures, you can go forward or back a chapter as well as pause and resume.

Request Next Chapter

  • [for example, if Genesis chapter 1 is currently being played]

  • User: “Alexa, next.” (Note: To move forward, the only commands that can be used are “Next,” “Skip,” or “Skip forward.”)

Request Previous Chapter

  • [for example, if Genesis chapter 2 is currently being played]

  • User: “Alexa, previous.” (Note: To move back, the only commands that can be used are “Go back,” “Skip back,” “Back up,” or “Previous.”)

Request to Stop

  • User: “Alexa, stop.” (Note: You can also say, “Pause.”)

  • Alexa: “OK, remember you can resume anytime by saying, ‘Alexa, resume.’”

Request to Repeat

  • [if a user requests to repeat a chapter after having listened to Genesis chapter 1]

  • User: “Alexa, repeat the chapter.”

  • Alexa: “Chapter one from Genesis in the Old Testament.”
