The objective of Seminaries and Institutes of Religion is to help youth and young adults deepen their conversion to Jesus Christ and His restored gospel; qualify for the blessings of the temple; and prepare themselves, their families, and others for eternal life with their Father in heaven.

As you diligently study the lessons in this course, you will have opportunities to deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father. Your study of the Old Testament will give you a foundation of scriptural understanding. “[T]he Old Testament is like the roots of a great scriptural tree, and one needs to know about the roots to comprehend the tree and its branches” (George A. Horton, Jr., “An Indispensable Foundation,” Ensign or Liahona, Mar. 2002, 38).
