Numbers 11–14; 20–24; 27

Overview

After Moses sent 12 spies to bring back a report of the land of Canaan, only two of them, Caleb and Joshua, had the faith that the Lord could help them successfully conquer it as He had promised. In response, the Lord declared that the children of Israel would wander the wilderness until the adults had passed away, except for those two spies. As the people continued to wander through the wilderness and complained against the Lord, He sent poisonous serpents. If those bitten by the snakes would look at a brass serpent upon a pole as a symbol of the Savior, they would be healed.

seminary iconBear testimony often, and invite learners to share their feelings, experiences, and testimonies. As students share their feelings, experiences, and testimonies, the Holy Ghost will bear witness of the truth of what they are saying, both to their own minds and hearts as well as to others. To learn more about the power of sharing testimony, see “The Savior Bore Testimony to Those He Taught” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way, p. 18). An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 57: “Numbers 21.”
