Genesis 18–23

Genesis 18–23

Overview

After originally settling in the land of Canaan, Abraham’s nephew Lot and his family moved to the wicked city of Sodom. The Lord warned Lot’s family to flee the city before it was destroyed. Lot’s wife turned back and perished. The Lord fulfilled His promise of posterity to Abraham when Isaac was born. As a test of Abraham’s faith, the Lord commanded Abraham to offer Isaac as a sacrifice. When Abraham proved his faithfulness, the Lord spared Isaac and provided a substitute sacrifice.

seminary icon Focus on truths that lead to conversion and build faith in Jesus Christ. When teachers help students state converting principles in their own words, it can deepen their understanding of the scriptures and the words of the prophets. An example of how to do this can be found in Lesson 25: “Genesis 15–18, 21.” To learn more, see “The Savior Taught Truths That Lead to Conversion and Build Faith” (Teaching in the Savior’s Way [2022], 22).
