This lesson will help you review truths found in the doctrinal mastery scripture passages and will help you practice applying these truths in a variety of circumstances.
Review doctrinal mastery passages
Take some time to review the doctrinal mastery passages in the New Testament. Which ones do you know well? Which ones are you less familiar with?

One way to remember truths in the scriptures is to relate them to everyday objects. Select two doctrinal mastery scripture passages, and review the key phrase associated with each. Then do the following with each of the passages:

Draw or take a picture of an object that you feel relates to the key phrase in the passage. (For example, for Matthew 5:14–16, you could draw or take a picture of a light).

Write a brief explanation of how the object relates to the truth taught in the passage.
Connecting truths to our lives
Elder David A. Bednar of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles taught a truth that can help us apply doctrinal mastery passages. He taught that gospel principles “provid[e] the precious perspective of eternal truth as we navigate the different circumstances, challenges, decisions, and experiences of mortality” (“‘The Principles of My Gospel,’”Liahona, May 2021, 123–24). The principles found in the doctrinal mastery passages can help us know how to respond to many situations that may arise in our lives.
1. In your study journal, complete the following activity for two doctrinal mastery passages:
Describe a situation in which someone could apply a truth from a doctrinal mastery passage you select. Explain how applying that truth could help the person receive the Savior’s help.
Reflecting on the Savior’s truths
Reflect on the doctrinal mastery scripture passages and key phrases taught during the first half of the year (see the chart that appears earlier in the lesson).
2. Complete the following in your study journal:
Write a brief letter to someone who will be starting seminary soon and does not know about doctrinal mastery passages. Explain to them how the passages will help them know the Savior better and will give them answers to questions and challenges that may arise in their lives. Consider sharing an example of when you or someone you know has been blessed by knowing and remembering the Savior’s truths taught in doctrinal mastery passages.
