Easter
Overview
The Easter season is a wonderful time to reflect on the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. As we think about these glorious events, we can feel the hope, joy, and peace that Jesus Christ offers to God’s children.
Note: For this week of instruction, there is a lesson prepared to help your students reflect on the joy Jesus Christ offers through His Resurrection. It is designed to help students prepare for Easter. If there are enough teaching days available this week and you feel it would be effective to do more than one lesson to prepare your students for Easter, consider some of the following ideas:
-
Teach a lesson based on a general conference address about Easter. You can find Easter-centered addresses through the link “Messages from Church leaders” on the Topics and Questions page for Easter on Gospel Library. Alternatively, you can find these addresses by locating “Easter” under General Conference topics. Talks that could be relevant include Elder Gary E. Stevenson’s address “And We Talk of Christ” and Elder Gerrit W. Gong’s address “Eternity’s Great Gifts: Jesus Christ’s Atonement, Resurrection, Restoration.” Lesson 207: “Template for Teaching Messages from Church Leaders” may also be useful in preparing this lesson.
-
If your school schedule did not allow you to teach the following lessons when they appeared in the Come, Follow Me schedule, you might teach one or more of these lessons this week:
-
Lesson 77: “Luke 24:1–12, 36–48”
-
Lesson 78: “Matthew 28; Luke 24; John 20”
-
Lesson 79: “Luke 24:13–35”
-
Use the “Easter Holy Week Study Plan,” available in the Gospel Library to help students learn about each day of the last week of the Savior’s life. Each day in the study plan includes scriptures to study and ponder, videos to watch, and a hymn.
-
Teach one or both of the following lessons found in the Doctrine and Covenants teacher manual: Lesson 162: “The Living Christ, Part 1” and Lesson 163: “The Living Christ, Part 2.”
