Using Media Wisely

Decide now how you will use media and technology. Prepare now by practicing correct principles for strength during difficult times. We have been counseled, “Wherefore, stand ye in holy places, and be not moved, until the day of the Lord come; for behold, it cometh quickly, saith the Lord” (Doctrine and Covenants 87:8). Consider using this scripture as a guide for where you stand in your use of media. Make an effort to be in places where the Spirit may be with you always.

“Brothers and sisters, how do we protect our children and youth? Filters are useful tools, but the greatest filter in the world, the only one that will ultimately work, is the personal internal filter that comes from a deep and abiding testimony of our Heavenly Father’s love and our Savior’s atoning sacrifice for each one of us” (Linda S. Reeves, “Protection from Pornography—a Christ-Focused Home,” Ensign or Liahona, May 2014, 16).

Like the world itself, media is a miraculous gift from God. But, as he does with all gifts, the adversary often tries to distract us from righteous desires and promptings from the Spirit.
