神組

本教會的信條第1條指出，「我們信神，永恆的父，和祂的兒子耶穌基督，及聖靈。」這三位人物組成神組，主領這個世界和我們天父其他一切的創造物。
後期聖徒對神組成員的看法，與基督教界各方人士的看法在許多方面一致，但也有顯著的差異。後期聖徒奉耶穌基督的名向父神禱告。他們認同父是他們崇拜的最終對象，子是主和救贖主，聖靈是父與子的使者及啟示者。然而，後期聖徒不同於其他基督教信仰的地方，在於他們相信神和耶穌基督是有骨肉身體的榮耀人物，且神組的每位成員皆為分開的人物。
在救主塵世傳道和使徒遇害之後的叛教時期，神組的真實教義就已喪失了。當14歲的約瑟·斯密接受第一次異象時，才開始復興此一教義（見約瑟·斯密——歷史1：17）。我們從先知對第一次異象的紀事和他其餘的教導中得知，神組的成員為三個分開的人物。父與子有可觸摸的骨肉身體，而聖靈則是一位只有靈體的人物（見教義和聖約130：22）。
雖然神組的成員是分開的個體，各司其職，但祂們在目的和教義上是合而為一的。祂們合作無間，促成天父神聖的救恩計畫。
