Six New Temples Announced

Six new temples were announced by President Russell M. Nelson during the Sunday afternoon session of general conference. Temples were announced for:

  • Tarawa, Kiribati. Kiribati is a country made up of 32 atolls in the Pacific Ocean near the international date line.

  • Port Vila, Vanuatu. Vanuatu is a country made up of about 80 islands in the South Pacific.

  • Lindon, Utah, USA. Lindon is located about 40 miles (64 km) south of Salt Lake City.

  • Greater Guatemala City, Guatemala. Guatemala, in Central America, will soon be home to four temples.

  • São Paulo East, Brazil. This will be the 12th temple announced for Brazil.

  • Santa Cruz, Bolivia. This will be the second temple in this South American country.

Since he became President of the Church in 2018, President Nelson has announced the construction of 49 new temples. The Church now has 230 temples announced, under construction, or operating.
