Hello from the Democratic Republic of the Congo

Hi, we’re Margo and Paolo!

We’re visiting the Democratic Republic of the Congo, or D. R. Congo.

D. R. Congo is in central Africa. About 80 million people live there.

A big part of D. R. Congo is covered in rainforest. It’s home to all sorts of interesting animals, like elephants, gorillas, and rhinos. This animal is called an okapi.

D. R. Congo is known for its beautiful traditional art, including wooden statues, woven baskets, and masks.

Missionaries from our church started teaching people in D. R. Congo in 1986. Now almost 60,000 people there belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

In D. R. Congo, most people speak French at church. That’s the country’s official language. But there are almost 250 other languages spoken in D. R. Congo!

This year, D. R. Congo got its first temple! The Church members there are excited to have a temple in their country.
