Leaders Address Latino Saints in November Broadcast

Elder Claudio D. Zivic of the Seventy and Elder Gary B. Doxey, Utah South Area Seventy, spoke at a Church-sponsored devotional for Latin American members titled “En la luz de Su amor” (“In the Light of His Love”), held on Sunday, November 13, 2011.

Thousands of Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking members of the Church and their friends attended the devotional at the Conference Center and in meetinghouses in North, Central, and South America.

For eight years the Church has provided annual inspirational events focused on the growing Latino community of Saints, an initiative that has included Christmas concerts, devotionals, and stage plays. The 2011 devotional marked the first time that the annual program was broadcast live to meetinghouses outside the United States.

Honduran First Lady Meets First Presidency

The first lady of Honduras, Rosa Elena Bonilla de Lobo, met with President Thomas S. Monson and President Henry B. Eyring, First Counselor in the First Presidency, on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, a meeting she called “a great privilege.”

During her visit to Church headquarters, she also toured Temple Square, the Family History Library, the Conference Center, the Church Humanitarian Center, and Welfare Square.

She explained that the Church was helpful recently during terrible flooding in Honduras. “Just two weeks ago you delivered 90,000 tons [81,600 tonnes] of food for the people who were affected by the rain and flooding, and this is one of the many things you do,” she said. “I now have faith that the Church does not have borders or limits in their ability [and] commitment to help those in need.”

The first lady of Honduras, Rosa Elena Bonilla de Lobo, toured Church facilities in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, on November 8, 2011.
