Hiram Page

(1800–52)

Hiram Page was born in Vermont. He married Catherine Whitmer, a daughter of Peter Whitmer Sr. and Mary Musselman Whitmer, in 1825. He was one of the Eight Witnesses of the Book of Mormon in June 1829 and was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in April 1830. That same year, he claimed to receive revelations for the Church through a seer stone. In response, the Lord revealed through Joseph Smith that Page’s revelations “are not of me” and came through Satan’s deceptions (Doctrine and Covenants 28:11). Page denounced his revelations in response to the revelation. He moved with the Saints to Kirtland, Ohio, in 1831 and then to Missouri in 1832. He left the Church in 1838.
