Daniel Miles

(1772–1845)

Daniel Miles was born in Sanbornton, New Hampshire. He married Electa Chamberlin in 1813. He was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Orson Pratt and Lyman Johnson in 1832, and in 1836 Miles moved to Kirtland, Ohio, where he was ordained an elder. Later in 1836, he was ordained a Seventy, and he was appointed a President of the Seventy the following year. Miles was a stockholder in the Kirtland Safety Society. In 1838 he moved to Far West, Missouri. He later became an early settler of Commerce, Illinois, which was later renamed Nauvoo.
