Solomon Humphrey Jr.

(1775–1834)

Solomon Humphrey Jr. was born in Simsbury, Connecticut. He married Ursula Andrews. Formerly a Baptist preacher, he was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and ordained an elder, presumably by Joseph Smith, when he visited Joseph Smith in western New York in the fall of 1830. In May 1831, he accompanied the Lucy Mack Smith company that migrated from Seneca County, New York, to Kirtland, Ohio. He was appointed to serve missions in June 1831 (Doctrine and Covenants 52:35) and December 1832. Humphrey participated in the Camp of Israel expedition to Missouri in 1834. He died in Clay County, Missouri.
