John Snider (Snyder)

(1800–1875)

John Snider (also spelled Snyder) was born in New Brunswick, Canada. He married Mary Heron in February 1822. He was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1836, at Toronto, and later became a stockholder in the Kirtland Safety Society. He was ordained a priest before 1837 and thereafter served a mission to England. Snider moved to Far West, Missouri, in 1838, where he was ordained a Seventy in 1839. He moved to Hancock County, Illinois, by 1840. There he was a member of the Nauvoo House Association (Doctrine and Covenants 124:22, 62–71). He served a mission to the United Kingdom from 1842 to 1843. He died in Salt Lake City, Utah Territory.
