“What Makes Your Church Different?”

Tamara W Runia

I used to wonder what I would say if someone asked, “What makes your church different?” Then our oldest son died unexpectedly, leaving behind his wonderful wife and four children. In our grief, the teachings of Jesus Christ’s restored gospel brought clarity and comfort. This month’s issue highlights three of those unique teachings:

First, the inspired family proclamation teaches us that “the divine plan of happiness enables family relationships to be perpetuated beyond the grave.” (See page 26.)

Second, through the Lord’s Church, we have access to God’s priesthood authority and power—the same power that created worlds and unites families eternally. (See page 2.)

Third, the Savior’s covenant people in His Church are preparing for His Second Coming, which is a cause for joy. (See pages 18, 22.)

As you study this issue, I pray you’ll discover these truths for yourself and find your answers to the question, “What makes your church different?”
