For Job 1–3; 12–14; 19; 21–24; 38–40; 42

Story: Job was a good man. Then he lost all he had—his animals, his children, and his health. He was sad, but he kept his faith in Jesus Christ. He said, “I know that my redeemer liveth” (Job 19:25). The Lord blessed Job for his faith.

Song: “My Redeemer Lives” (Hymns, no. 135)

Activity: Make a collage that shows your faith. Look through old Church magazines and cut out pictures of what you believe in, like Jesus, the temple, or the scriptures. Then glue them onto a piece of paper and hang it up.

Write a Psalm

For Psalms 1–2; 8; 19–33; 40; 46

Story: People in the Bible wrote songs and poems to praise God. We can read them in the book of Psalms. They teach us to trust in Jesus Christ.

Song: “Teach Me to Walk in the Light” (Children’s Songbook, 177)

Activity: Read the scripture story on page 8. Then write your own song or poem praising God! The activity on page 12 can help you get started.

Prayer Stories

For Psalms 49–51; 61–66; 69–72; 77–78; 85–86

Story: Some of the Psalms are like prayers to God. In Psalm 86:7, David says, “In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.” David teaches us that Heavenly Father will answer our prayers.

Song: “A Child’s Prayer” (Children’s Songbook, 12–13)

Activity: Read the story on page 36. Tell about a time when your prayer was answered. Write it down or draw a picture of your story. Then send it to us at the Friend! See the back cover to learn how.

Guess Who?

For Psalms 102–103; 110; 116–119; 127–128; 135–139; 146–150

Story: In Psalm 139:1–3, David teaches us that Heavenly Father and Jesus love us and know each one of us.

Song: “I Feel My Savior’s Love” (Children’s Songbook, 74–75)

Activity: Write each person’s name on a small piece of paper and put it in a box or bowl. One person pulls out a name. Each person takes a turn to ask yes or no questions until someone guesses the name. Talk about how our Heavenly Father knows us—our name, what we like to do, and everything about us.
