Events in the life of Wilford Woodruff

President Wilford Woodruff kept a faithful record of the events of his life. He wrote in his journal every day for 63 years!

Wilford wrote about the important experiences he had, such as baptizing people in England and being healed of illnesses. But he also wrote about everyday things.

One entry described him buying oranges in London from a fruit farmer.

Another described his sore feet.

He also carefully wrote down Joseph Smith’s sermons.

Wilford often decorated the borders of his pages with elaborate designs.

He usually began each year’s journal with a written prayer and a quick summary of his life.

Wilford: I have traveled 61,692 miles and crossed the Atlantic four times; held 1,069 meetings, 86 conferences, and 123 councils; married 7 couples; and blessed 194 children.

President Wilford Woodruff also wrote about the important things he did as a prophet. On April 6, 1893, he dedicated the Salt Lake Temple.

Besides creating a personal history, Wilford Woodruff served as Church historian for more than 30 years.

During that time he kept detailed records of what was happening in the Church. His journals and records are still used and treasured by the Church today!
