Chapter 4

Joseph was a righteous man

Joseph was a righteous man. He and Mary were to be married. When he learned that she was going to have a baby, he did not know what to do. Because the baby would not be his child, he thought that he should not marry her. Matt. 1:18–19

An angel told Joseph to marry Mary

One night an angel came to Joseph in a dream and told him that Mary’s baby was the Son of God. The angel told Joseph to go ahead and marry her and to name the baby Jesus. Jesus was to be the Savior of the world. Matt. 1:20–21

Joseph obeyed

Joseph obeyed the angel and married Mary. Matt. 1:24–25
