“What Would Jesus Christ Want Me to Do?” Friend, Mar. 1998, 8

What Would Jesus Christ Want Me to Do?

Whenever I have to choose, I think what Jesus Christ might do (“Whenever I Have to Choose,” Friend, June 1997, page 38).

Do you wonder what you should do sometimes? I do. That’s when I try to think about the Savior and the choices He made and the things He did. …

I like to spend too much time watching television and playing video games. … What would Jesus Christ want me to do?

And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man. (Luke 2:40, 52.)

Soon I will be eight years old. I’m not sure that I want to be baptized. I am a little bit afraid. … What would Jesus Christ want me to do?

And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased (Matt. 3:16–17).

I’ve been saving my money to buy a new bike. If I don’t pay my tithing this month, I’ll have enough. What would Jesus Christ want me to do?

But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you (3 Ne. 13:33).

I like going to church on Sundays, especially Primary. But sometimes I’d rather be out playing with my friends. … What would Jesus Christ want me to do?

And that thou mayest more fully keep thyself unspotted from the world, thou shalt go to the house of prayer and offer up thy sacraments upon my holy day (D&C 59:9).

When I went to the store, I stole some bubblegum. It tastes good, but I don’t like it because I know what I did was wrong. I don’t want anyone to know what I did, though. … What would Jesus Christ want me to do?

For behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent (D&C 19:16).

The meanest, toughest bully at school lives next door to me. He’s always picking on me, and it hurts. … What would Jesus Christ want me to do?

But behold I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them who despitefully use you and persecute you (3 Ne. 12:44).

My grandma died. I miss her so much—all I want to do is stay in my room and cry. … What would Jesus Christ want me to do?

Behold, [Jesus Christ] bringeth to pass the resurrection of the dead. …

The soul shall be restored to the body, and … all things shall be restored to their proper and perfect frame.

And then shall the righteous shine forth in the kingdom of God. (Alma 40:3, 23, 25.)

What can I do? What can you do?
