Share the Gospel

Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel (Mark 16:15).

Paperboys used to stand on busy street corners to sell their newspapers. They would holler, “Read all about it!” and shout the most exciting news of the day.

The restoration of the gospel is the most exciting news of our day. The word gospel means “good news.” We may not stand on the corner and call out this good news, but we can share the gospel by word and by example. Some people tell the good news while serving full-time missions. And some are stake missionaries or part-time missionaries in their neighborhoods. But everyone can be a missionary and tell someone the good news. President David O. McKay said, “Every member a missionary.” We can do it!

Sharing Time Ideas

1. Print words of “A Riddle” on large paper, leaving room for pictures by words they illustrate. Enlarge pictures on separate pieces of colored paper. Put pictures of missionaries on back of riddle. Display pictures on wall. Ask children to read riddle and choose pictures to illustrate it. Turn riddle over to reveal pictures of missionaries.

2. Sing “I Want to Be a Missionary Now” (Friend, October 1984, page 46) and “I Hope They Call Me on a Mission” (Sing With Me, B-75).

3. See “Heroes and Heroines—Called to Serve” and “What I Can Do to Be a Missionary” (Friend, November 1984, pages 38 and 40), and discuss them and find other missionary-related stories and activities (see December 1985 Friend index).

4. Role play scripture stories of missionaries such as Ammon, sons of Alma, and Jonah.
