Listening to a Seashell

“Listening to a Seashell,” Friend, Aug.–Sept. 1982, 24

Listening to a Seashell

When I hear the waves

Tumble in a shell,

I feel as though

I’ve stepped inside

To where sea creatures dwell.

I swim about their thunderworld

Of waves that roll and roar,

Then ride them in their secret sea

They let just me explore.
