My Tithing
April 1973

“My Tithing,” Friend, Apr. 1973, 13

My Tithing

Whenever I work and earn a dime,

I know that all of it’s not mine.

One penny I put in a special place

And then I spend the other nine.

If I earned fifty cents some day,

One nickel I’d put fast away,

For that is what I’d owe the Lord

As tithing—and I’d want to pay.

One-tenth of all I earn is due.

This may seem quite a lot to you,

But I pay it gladly, for I know

I’m doing what I ought to do.
