Prophets Are Given for Our Benefit

Ammon testified to King Limhi of the blessing of having a prophet and seer. Today prophets, seers, and revelators are likewise a blessing to us.

Articles

  • Prophets, Seers, and Revelators.” In this general conference address, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland testifies of the blessing it is to have prophets, seers, and revelators to guide the Lord’s Church and the importance of sustaining them as such.

  • Are You Listening?” This New Era article shares ways the words of the prophets strengthen and protect us.

  • Prophets.” This article from the Friend provides an overview of prophets and what they do. Includes a matching activity with prophets from the Book of Mormon.

Activities

  • Coloring Pages: Prophets and Apostles.” Print out these drawings of the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles for your children to color.

  • Follow the Prophet.” This video teaches how we can bless our lives by listening to those who know the right way to go.

The Influence of Our Choices

As we learn from the example of the Lamanites, our actions and attitudes can have a significant influence, for good or ill, on later generations.

Articles

  • Small Choices, Big Consequences.” In this Ensign article, Elder Massimo De Feo of the Seventy recalls an experience in which he had to make a choice of whether to stand for his faith or not, and the resulting consequences of that choice.

  • Count the Ripples.” This New Era article tells about the influence one 14-year old boy had on hundreds of people and on future generations because of his choice to stay active in the Church when it was hard.

  • Go and Do.” In this Friend article, President Henry B. Eyring tells the story of a Relief Society president who made a difference in her community. It also includes an activity to help children see the results of their good choices.

  • Blair Chooses the Right.” This panel story from the Friend Junior can help little ones learn what it means to choose the right.
