Logan Temple Undergoes Remodeling

LOGAN, Utah—An extensive, two-year remodeling project is under way here at the ninety-two-year-old Logan Temple.

The temple, dedicated by President John Taylor in 1884, will be closed for two years while the work is in progress.

Remodeling plans call for four new ordinance rooms to be built around the celestial room so that the filmed presentation of the temple ceremony may be utilized. In addition, there will be a new chapel, cafeteria, nursery, laundry, locker rooms, and offices.

The remodeling has been scheduled because of the need to increase the capacity of the temple.

Construction of the temple began in 1877 on a site selected by President Brigham Young. Ground was broken the year he died, and seven years later the temple was dedicated.
