Little Deaf Daughter

“Little Deaf Daughter,” Ensign, Aug. 1971, 74

Little Deaf Daughter

She cannot hear the wind,

nor the sound of rain,

or mother calling

the children again.

But she sees the sky

and feels the sun

and smells the flowers

and runs and runs.

She sees the beauty

of the tiniest thing.

Her happiness makes

my heart sing and sing.
