Sister Becky Scott: Brothers and sisters, we welcome you to the annual broadcast for Seminaries and Institutes of Religion, originating from Salt Lake City, Utah. My name is Becky Scott, and I serve as an associate administrator for Seminaries and Institutes of Religion.
We are grateful to be joined on the stand by Elder Clark G. Gilbert of the Seventy, who serves as the Commissioner of the Church Educational System, and his wife, Christine. President Steven J. Lund, who serves as the Young Men General President, and his wife, Kalleen. And Chad H Webb, administrator of Seminaries and Institutes and his wife, Christy. Also on the stand with us are Church Educational System and Seminaries and Institutes administrators.
We extend a very warm welcome to all of you, our teachers and leaders viewing this broadcast in approximately 150 countries and nearly 40 languages. We love and appreciate each of you and are deeply grateful for your service.
We also express our appreciation to all those in other Church departments who are helping to make this broadcast possible. We will begin this meeting with the congregation singing hymn number 14, “Sweet Is the Peace the Gospel Brings,” which will be led by Rick Decker and accompanied on the organ by Evan Mendez. Following the musical number, Sister Messina Duncan, a seminary teacher in the Utah North Area, will offer the invocation.
Sister Becky Scott: We are happy to have Brother Chad Webb speak to us today. Brother Webb has served as administrator of Seminaries and Institutes of Religion since 2008. After Brother Webb, President Steven J. Lund will address us. President Lund was sustained as Young Men General President in April 2020. Following President Lund, we’ll be pleased to hear a musical number by a choir of institute students from the Ensign College and Salt Lake City University Institutes. They will sing “Lord, I Would Follow Thee.” They will be led by Trina Garlick, with Evan Mendez on the organ.
After the choir sings, Elder Clark G. Gilbert will share his message with us. Elder Gilbert was sustained as a General Authority Seventy in April of 2021. At the conclusion of Elder Gilbert’s testimony, the choir will sing “Praise to the Lord, the Almighty.” Rick Decker will conduct, with Evan Mendez on the organ. Brother Walter S. Fife, who recently retired as a teacher in the Utah South Area, will give the closing prayer. Brother Webb.
