In January 2021 inspired direction was given about how to accomplish the objective of Seminaries and Institutes of Religion. This vision, known as the strategic story, is simple: S&I has a significant role in the urgent need to gather an entire generation of youth and young adults to Jesus Christ. S&I’s strategic story aligns the work with President Russell M. Nelson’s call to gather Israel ("Hope of Israel, Worldwide Youth Devotional", June 3, 2018).

Gathering Israel in S&I
By building faith and testimony in the hearts of the youth and young adults we serve, we are taking an active role in gathering Israel—“the most important work in the world” ("Let God Prevail," October 2020). As we work to gather Israel, we also fulfill The Objective of Seminaries and Institutes of Religion:
Our purpose is to help youth and young adults understand and rely on the teachings and Atonement of Jesus Christ, qualify for the blessings of the temple, and prepare themselves, their families, and others for eternal life with their Father in Heaven.
How We Gather Israel: Conversion, Relevance, and Belonging
Our focus is on teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ as found in the scriptures. We can do this most effectively by creating engaging experiences that lead to conversion, relevance, and belonging, and by making those experiences accessible to as many youth and young adults as possible.
When we invite an entire generation to grow spiritually, to become active participants in their gospel journey, and to let God prevail in their lives, we are joining in the greatest work of gathering Israel.
