Institute Course Transfer to Church Schools

 

The Institute of Religion courses listed below will transfer to BYU, BYU—Idaho, BYU—Hawaii, and Ensign College. If equivalent courses are not offered at these Church schools, institute credit will transfer as elective credit only.

Because each Church school has Cornerstone requirements, BYU—Pathway Worldwide students should consider taking Cornerstone courses first, before scripture and other elective courses.

Institute Courses that Transfer to Church Schools

Cornerstone Courses

All Cornerstone institute courses will transfer to Church schools as Cornerstone religion credit. However, they will not satisfy the residency religious course requirement at BYU or BYU—Hawaii.

Note: Students who have taken one-credit versions of an institute course will need to complete both one-credit parts of a course to transfer credit.

Note:  Institute students interested in attending a Church school should transfer institute credit after they have been accepted. Students may continue to take Institute of Religion courses as long as they meet the religious education requirements of the individual Church school.

2. Choose Graduation in the menu.

  • This will show what Institute Classes are taken for credit.
  • There is a specific link: Request credit transfer.
    • When you click this, you choose the school you want to transfer the credit to.
