  1. These are paid roles. A translator or content reviewer will be an independent contractor and can choose when to end their contract.
  2. A translator is responsible for creating the initial translation of a song from English into the target language and for incorporating feedback from reviewers.
  3. A content reviewer is responsible for reviewing the work of a translator, with a focus on meaning and language acceptability.
  4. A translator or content reviewer should have solid English skills, be fluent in the target language, be able to write creatively in the target language, be generally familiar with music and poetry, have basic technical skills, be able to meet deadlines, and be able to communicate clearly and regularly with other team members.
  5. A translator or content reviewer can live anywhere and would ideally be available for at least 5 hours per week and up to 24 hours per week. The hours required for the project may vary from week to week.

2. Singer

  1. This is a paid role. A singer will be an independent contractor and can choose when to end their contract.
  2. A singer is responsible for singing translations and creating an unofficial audio recording throughout the translation process. These recordings will not be officially published by the Church. They will only be used internally by the translation team and may be shared with volunteers via survey to solicit feedback on the translations.
  3. A singer does not need to have professional vocal experience. A singer for this project should be fluent in the target language, be generally familiar with music, be able to sing a melody clearly and on pitch, be able to meet deadlines, and be able to communicate clearly and regularly with other team members.

  2. A community feedback volunteer is asked to complete digital surveys for hymn translations. The volunteer is asked questions about the meaning, language, and musicality of a hymn translation and has a chance to provide feedback before the hymn is published. Each hymn survey is expected to take 5-20 minutes.
  3. The only qualification requirements for a community feedback volunteer are fluency in the target language and access to an electronic device (phone, tablet, computer). A volunteer does not need to know English, because the survey will be entirely in the target language.
  4. A community feedback volunteer can live anywhere and would ideally be available for up to 1 hour per week.
