Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints offer their time, resources, and love to others through ministering, fast offerings, missionary service, and volunteerism. Whether through quiet acts of kindness, generous donations, or organized service efforts, Church members work together to be “instruments in the hands of God” (Alma 26:3), extending His love to all of God’s children.
Youth and young adults of the Church engaged in service throughout 2025 and often took the lead on service projects. For example, in Bolivia more than 50 young adults gathered at the Tarija Urban Bio Park to sand and paint railings, signs, and fences; clean drains; and perform other maintenance tasks.
The Church also encouraged youth around the world to participate in Global Youth Service Day, from April 25 to April 27. Youth across Texas and Oklahoma worked together to build beds for Sleep in Heavenly Peace, a nonprofit serving children without beds in the Oklahoma City metro area. In Arizona, a group of young women packed duffle bags for children in foster care. Each bag included clothing, pajamas, toys, books, hygiene items, and a blanket—providing comfort and a sense of belonging to children during times of transition.
In 2025, the Primary General Presidency of the Church invited all Primaries around the world to organize an annual service activity. In response, Primary children have served in their communities in a variety of ways, including preparing kits for children in need, cleaning up communities, and donating food.
When disasters arise, Church members often donate their time and energy to help those impacted regardless of backgrounds or beliefs. In the Philippines, a typhoon affected millions of individuals and families, damaging homes and other infrastructure. Church members and missionaries in the area stepped in to help by assembling bags of relief items, distributing food, and opening Church meetinghouses as temporary shelter for those seeking refuge.
After a tornado destroyed many communities in St. Louis, Missouri, members in the area volunteered their time delivering meals and cleaning up houses and roads.
While many Church members serve within their local communities, some choose to dedicate themselves to caring for those in need through serving a mission.
Young adults of the Church are encouraged to serve proselytizing missions, where part of their ministry is devoted to serving in the community. For example, in Rome, Italy, proselytizing missionaries spend one day a week preparing and serving hot meals for the homeless at Parrocchia del Santissimo Redentore charity kitchen.
Young adults, seniors, and married couples also have the option to serve a service mission. In 2025, 13,789 full- and part-time service missionaries volunteered their time to:
For example, service missionaries in the Philippines participated in a medical mission hosted by a congregation in Barangay Mintal, Davao City, in 2025. The event provided community members with free physical and mental health services.
“It inspires me always to think how the members are responding to the call and really trying their best to emulate the example of Jesus Christ in serving those in need around the world. I believe that the most important part of the work is really what is done within our own communities, with our own neighbors.”
