Helping Close to Home

A girl helping a little boy to swim.

My name is Avery, and I’m 10 years old. This past summer, I met a family named the Willards. They live in Utah, but they came to our city in Texas for a summer internship.

While they were here, we were able to help them figure out how to drive around the city, where to find the library, and where to go to have fun! Their apartment complex didn’t have a pool. You really need a pool in San Antonio, so we invited them to ours.

Their mom, Saori, is expecting a new baby. I was able to help take care of their two-year-old boy, Kensei, so Saori could rest. I liked helping a stranger in our city. It felt good to be able to help somebody in need, especially in such a fun way! Saori appreciated it when I walked around the pool with Kensei. I felt so close to my Heavenly Father and Jesus, and I liked being a part of “I Was a Stranger” in a small way.
