EnglishConnect is a program provided by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to help individuals around the world increase self-reliance and expand opportunities through learning English. To find which stakes have EnglishConnect 1 & 2 gatherings go to
EnglishConnect 3 is provided through BYU-Pathway Worldwide with support from local members and leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. EnglishConnect 3 is a self-paced online course with a student-led weekly gathering held online or in a local meetinghouse. Registering gives learners 14 weeks of access to online learning resources with individualized feedback on listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
IELI provides an opportunity for English language learners who reside in the United States. A person can study in IELI if they are a graduate of a U.S. high school and have at least a 2.5 GPA. Students who finish the program can take classes in a major at USU. Financial aid is available while attending IELI because IELI classes are credit bearing.
The University of Utah offers the English Language Institute for students who want to live in the United States on a student visa, as well as general and community language programs.
UVU offers the Intensive English Program (ELL) that is accredited by the CEA as well as a non-credit ESL Community Education program.
Career Exploration
This free 60-question career assessment asks questions related to likes and dislikes. It’s administered by the United States Department of Labor. The assessment provides a list of task options such as “Buy and sell stocks and bonds” or “Develop a new medicine.” A person is provided career options at the end of the test.
