We're here to gain a strong testimony about this gospel and about the temple. We start walking at 6:45 in the morning and hike 7 miles down the canyon. You don't just wake up one day and decide to go to the temple. You have to prepare to be worthy to enter the temple. We walk another 8 miles.
Once we get out of the canyon, the temple, our goal, is always in sight. What we're doing today is a commitment to a lifestyle we're going to live forever. In the world today it is hard to get to the temple because of temptations around us. It's going to be hard to hike 15 miles too. As we work together, it will strengthen our testimonies of the importance of the temple. This activity will help them to be ready to commit to be worthy to enter the temple. This walk is similar to a life journey? what it's really like, going to the temple. It's going to be hard and bumpy. Some didn't physically prepare as much as they could have. They feel it today. It's hard; we're seeing blisters. I'm feeling it everywhere. I was so nervous. I wanted to motivate others. I felt that if I wasn't prepared, then I couldn?t help others.
I feel good now; I feel better. You're never alone. Your Heavenly Father is always there to help you. One girl had a side ache and just sat down. We all walked back to get her, so not even one soul was lost. We made it all together. Good job, girls! It was hard to hike 15 miles. But it was simple because we knew where we were going and what our goal was. My mom and my sisters are here. At that point I realized that we're an eternal family. Because of the temple, we can be together forever. I have two daughters here. That's got me motivated. I'm not going to have them make it to the temple without their mom. It feels so great to make it to the temple. I just can't believe the Spirit and the joy and the peace that everyone has felt today. I know now that I can't have anything else after feeling like this. True happiness comes from a temple marriage and an eternal family.
