As a young boy,
Spencer Kimball had a record of perfect attendance
at Sunday School and Primary. But one day, as he was working
with his older brothers in the field, the
meetinghouse bell rang, announcing the
beginning of Primary. Upon declaring that he
was going to Primary, his brothers quickly told
him that he had work to do, that Father wasn't
there to protect him, and he wasn't going. Still, Spencer was
determined to go. Though the piles of hay
gathered around Spencer, almost covering him, he
caught up with the trampling, slid off the back of the
wagon, and was halfway to the meetinghouse before
his absence in the field was noticed. His perfect attendance
record remained unbroken.
