Sister Miller, still weak from her twins, which died at birth, and from rigors of the journey, finally gave up and said she could go no further. The company could not wait for her, so she bade her husband goodbye, kissed each of her children, and sat down on a boulder and cried.
Dear God in Heaven, please, please help us. I do not know what to do. I desire to do what is right, but cannot see my way. Please stay the wolves, and provide the means for us to make it to camp. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
